World Whiskies

  • CoqBull Restaurant, 5 French Church Street, Cork

Our "Boys in Green" are off to France to test themselves against the best international teams in Europe. In celebration of all things international, the Cork Chapter of the Irish Whiskey Society will test some of the more obscure international whiskies that nevertheless come with seriously big reputations.

Other than Gareth Bale, our Welsh cousins can boast of another superstar in the form of "Penderyn whiskey" that emanates from the southern tip of the Breacon Beacons national park, location of the Black Mountains range.

Zlatan Ibrahimović isn't the only Swede with a swagger- "Mackmyra whisky" is a relative 2009 newcomer that has been growing from strength to strength.

In Australia we find the coveted "Sullivan's Cove whisky"...with a name like that we could surely use the 'granny rule' and have this one tog out for Ireland!

South Africa is probably better known for the rugby but nevertheless we will be treated to a taste of "Bain's Cape Mountain whisky".

The football has surely been kicked straight through the window on our final two selections but hey, it's whisky reputations that count and "Amrut" of India and "Kavalan" of Taiwan have been winning awards left, right and center.

So join us on the night for a fine selection of international superstars!
