Celebrate Burns night with a Scotch Malt Whiskey Society Tasting and Social Event
We’re thrilled to return to Bar1661, Green Street, Dublin 7 for a very special Burns Night celebration on Wednesday 22nd January at 7:00pm. We will enjoy a welcome cocktail, some super SMWS expressions followed by some Burns Night food and celebrations.
Priority booking for opens for members (with an option to book guests) on Monday 13th January at 12:00 noon. Event opens for non-members to book on Wednesday 15th January at 12:00 noon.
Arriving at 7:00pm, we will be welcomed with a Whisky Cocktail created for the evening by the award winning team at Bar1661 to kick off our Burns Night Social event.
We will then joined by Sam MacDonald who will take us through some superb Scotch Malt Whiskey Society expressions especially selected for the night's tasting.
Sam has worked as a Brand Ambassador and London Venue Manager of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society.
He has made it his personal mission to lead the charge for the region Dal Riada, through research and representation, Sam aims to uncover the world's oldest whisk(e)y region.
He has spent fourteen years working in the drinks industry and currently represents Irish and Scottish whiskey brands around the world.

Echlinville Distillery - Dunville's Irish Whiskey
We are starting the new year with a big one. We are delighted to have Jarlath Watson and Graeme Millar from Echlinville Distillery visiting us on Thursday 30th January at 8.00pm in Wynn's Hotel, Dublin.
The evening will start with a special treat from Dave Mulligan and Bar 1661 using their Bán Poitin. Followed by some exceptional whiskeys from Dunville's core range:
We will then be treated to three further samples direct from the distillery including two cask strength expressions.

Any remaining tickets will be opened to non-members from Thursday 23rd at 12:00 noon.

To kick off 2020, we have a special one off event lined up to get us up to speed. Graham Coull, our new Dingle distiller will be presenting us with a very unique opportunity to taste and vote upon 8 Speyside whiskys for the annual Speyside Whisky Awards which is celebrating it's 21st year.
The judging process takes place in two stages. The first round is a blind nosing and tasting of Speyside's finest malts by selected judges. Following the challenging blind tasting of Speyside’s finest malts, our expert judging panel selected eight finalists for the 2020 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Awards.
Two whiskies from each of the four categories are shortlisted to go forward for the Roving Whisky Awards Judging and Tasting, when visitors and locals can cast their vote during the Festival. The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival Whisky Awards are the only whisky awards where the real experts - whisky consumers - have the final vote and have continued to gain in popularity.
And this is where we come in!
The final say of course, rests with our Festival and International voters who take the opportunity to become involved in the judging process. The judging events will be held at various international locations and we would encourage all Speyside Whisky Enthusiasts to become involved in the judging where possible.
Both the members in Dingle & Dublin are now being given the opportunity to have our say in what could win and we need you guys to show up on the night and to taste & vote.
