Update Mon Feb 18th: This was another popular event so please click 'Join Waitlist' to be alerted if any spaces become free. As the tasting is over a week away there may be some cancellations in the meantime...
We're delighted to have Seamus Lowry from Bushmills for our next tasting on Thursday 28th February at 8pm in Wynn's Hotel, Dublin 2.
It's almost 3 years since Bushmills have been the focus of a Dublin tasting so we're thrilled to welcome Seamus back. Bushmills have been busy in the meantime expanding their portfolio, working with different cask finishes and even an expression in Acacia Wood released at 47%...
Along with some Society favourites from the core range this will be a great opportunity to try some new expressions including the newest Distillery Exclusive Acacia Wood Finish. We will also be treated to some very special cask samples direct from the Distillery. This will be a great opportunity to try these component samples to experience how Bushmills expressions come to life.
Bushmills tastings are always popular Irish Whiskey Society events so we are looking forward to a great night with Seamus.
On the night doors will open at 7:45pm for attendees. If you arrive at the hotel early please enjoy the hospitality of the bar downstairs, this will allow the team complete the event setup so we can kick off the tasting on time. Thank You.
Members may now subscribe to a 3rd offering of a bottle of this very special expression created only for Irish Whiskey Society Members.
This bottling is an 10-year-old cask strength Single Malt. To make it rare and innovative, it was finished in a single Carcavelos White Port cask.
It has been bottled exclusively for the Irish Whiskey Society and cannot be found in any shops. It has been bottled at cask strength with no chill filtration.
And to add a bit of formality to recognise our 10 years of operation, we dressed it in a black tuxedo.
Members can place their subscription for this at a Society low price of €80. A comparable retail price for this exceptional product would be over €100.
As per a Constitutional Amendment voted on 30 August 2018, Members must have attained six months continuous membership to be eligible to obtain a bottle. If you are not eligible now, you may order when you become eligible.
The first Dingle tasting of 2019 will actually take place in Inch and see our chapter celebrate some of the finest and most innovative single pot still whiskey produced in this country over the past 20 years in the cosy surrounds of Foleys bar. Led by a very generous donation of a bottle of the now legendary Jameson 15 by Dick Macks pub, and to also include a Redbreast Manu-a-Lámh, a 1st batch Method & Madness chestnut pot still, the new Red Spot, a whiskey society 17 year pot still and some other cracking pearls of Ireland's native spirit, Fionnan O'Connor & Willie Murphy will eulogise about just what makes single pot still whiskey so special in their eyes and why it turned them into slavering, thirst driven unkempt legends of the Irish whiskey industry.
These two lads will travel all the way to Inch to exclusively share their knowledge (and stories) of just how pot still whiskey drew them into the whiskey industry at large.
There will be a minibus to transport members to and from Dingle on the evening. This will leave John Benny's pub on Strand Street at 7.30 pm sharp.
NB. No cash accepted on the night.
