Many whiskey aficionados look down their noses at the concept of whiskey cocktails; seeing them as some form of stew as opposed to the fine cut of fillet that a dram can be.  Well, we all know the difference between a stew of scraps and one made by adept hands using only the finest ingredients.  The better the components, the better the stew.  And we’ll use some of the best.

Chef Trevis L Gleason, who many will remember from last November’s “Elements of Taste” food and whiskey pairing, will give us a guided tour of whiskey cocktails through the centuries.

From ages-old milk punch to his own modern twist on traditional favourites, we will taste an international selection of whiskey on their own and then shaken, stirred, or poured-over various ingredients to see how they complement the flavours of each whiskey.

We’ll talk cocktail equipment, terminology, and appropriate glassware.  It’ll be the perfect way to spend a long, winter’s night and we look forward to doing so in the company of old friends and new.

We are proud to announce that this tasting will take place in John Bennys pub which has just won a gold medal in the 2018 Munster Section of the Irish Whiskey Awards.
