Back by popular demand, following her first sell out IWS tasting Cathryn Bell returns to compare whiskies finished or matured in sherry casks with the sherry they were aged in.

The multi-award winning sommelier Cathryn Bell (@CathrynBellsomm) originally from Wales, has expertly matched wine and cuisine in some of the best establishments in Ireland such as Ashford Castle, Chapter One, and most recently at the double Michelin starred Aimsir.

Now based in Dublin, she runs the wine consultancy winerover.ie. As a sommelier, she has always loved connecting with people, and the vinous match-making between people and food.

For this event Cathryn has carefully selected four rare and unusual sherries, from the 7 different sherry styles. These range from the bone dry to the sweetest, and she has selected the best examples of each style to compare to their relative whiskies so that we can better see and understand the impact of these sherries on the whiskies.

This will not be a winter's tale that Harvey tells his uncle Pepe, but an exploration of the finest wines from Jerez and how they have contributed to the whiskey tradition.

The line up includes:

Bodegas de La Riva Manzanilla Fina Miraflores

Valdespino Oloroso Don Gonzalo VOS

Equipos La Bota 102 Palo Cortado

Callejuela Pedro Ximenez

OBAN Distillers Edition 2007 - 2021 (Fino finish)

Equipo Navazos La Bota de Malt Whisky (Oloroso finish)

Royal Brackla 18 Year Old Palo Cortado Sherry Cask Finish

Teeling Whiskey CWS Single Pot Still Single Cask (Chestnut PX finish)
