  Third round subscriptions for the IWS Dingle's "Decade of Dingle"

  The story of the Irish Whiskey Society in Dingle began on April 5, 2013, with the very first tasting held in the legendary Dick Mack's Pub. This sold-out event was a landmark occasion, featuring the first public launch of the Teeling 21 year old Silver Reserve in the line-up. Two further annual tastings followed in the subsequent years, laying the foundation for something greater.

  In 2016, following consultation with the main society committee, Peter White volunteered to establish a local chapter. Alongside Finn MacDonnell, the new venture was successfully launched. While there were some very lean periods in the early days, the dedication of the Dingle community has led to the vibrant success we celebrate today, with a stable membership of around 50 devoted enthusiasts enjoying monthly tastings.

  It is with great pleasure that the society committee, in collaboration with local members Peter White, Finn Mac Donnell, Barry Rogers & Debbi Lewang, announce a 10-year commemorative bottle to celebrate this remarkable occasion: The Dingle Chapter Decade Blend.

  
  

  A Truly Unique Dingle-Inspired Release

  This bottle is a very unique offering from Echlinville distillery who have been exceptionally kind in facilitating us on this occasion. This whiskey, with a real Dingle twist is one of two identical high malt blends of 5 year old grain and malt whiskey, placed in 2 bourbon casks (the first of which became the first of the new Casked in Bond 1808 series in 2024) which held an exclusive one off Dick Macks Honey & Hemp IPA for over 5 years, thus making this whiskey just over 10 years old.

  This commemorative bottle will be available exclusively to current Irish Whiskey Society members as a heartfelt thank you for your support and dedication over the past decade. Round 3 of subscriptions opens on our website at 7:00pm on Monday 12th of January.

  To avoid ‘bottle flipping’ Society subscription bottles may not be sold by members to third parties (e.g. auction sites) for a period of three years after receipt. Records of bottle numbers are maintained for this reason.

  Back to Where it all Began

  As some of you already know, the origins of our chapter began in the old backroom of Dick Mack's Pub on April 5, 2013 and it was a sold out evening. At this tasting, we were privileged to be allowed to be the official public launch event of the Teeling 21 year old Silver Reserve, a very big event at that time. 

  Of course, we then had annual tastings over the next 3 years and then on April 21 2016, after that year's annual event in Dick Mack's, we hosted our first ever monthly tasting where we had Teeling's Kevin Hurley present a range of Teeling whiskey to us all upstairs in John Benny's Pub. Incidentally, John Benny's hosted the next 3 tastings and other events took place in Benners Hotel, Nellie Fred's, Adams, Paul Geaney's and the Distillery in that first year of the chapter. 

  
  

  Ten years on and we will now welcome Teeling and their ambassadors, Beibhinn O' Reilly, European Ambassador & Eoin Cooney, Irish Ambassador back to Dingle to present a range of excellent whiskey from them. You will recognise Eoin from his previous passionate presentation in John Benny's for Glendalough distillery a few months ago. Well he is now in pastures new and is looking forward to returning to Dingle, this time to Hanafin's Bar in Annascaul. Beibhinn & Eoin will present some of Teeling's excellent range which has expanded in leaps and bounds over the last 10 years and there may be a surprise or two on the night.

  
  

  And as this will be the first tasting after the great wins in the All Ireland football club series to all of our teams on the peninsula;
