  Midleton Masters Return to Dingle

  For our May tasting, IWS Dingle are both delighted & privileged to welcome back to the town the centre of the Midleton universe: Kevin O Gorman, Master Distiller and  Eric Ryan, Powers  Whiskey Distiller.

  We say privileged because it is only possible to get these legends together on just a very few occasions during the year and for us to be able to welcome them all back to Dingle together again is extremely fortuitous indeed. Each will explain just how Midleton make their precious whiskey and a cooper may disassemble and assemble a cask for us, using the skills taught to him by one of his predecessors. Unfortunately Ger Buckley is away on business in the U.S. and will be unable to attend on this occasion. On previous occasions, this event has generated huge interest in both in Dick Mack's yard and here in Paul Geaney's and we are really looking forward to tasting what are always some brilliant and excellent whiskeys.

  
  

  This is a unique opportunity to sample some whiskeys which we may never get to taste again. There will be some very cracking whiskeys to be imbibed including some amazing cask samples which will be truly special and perhaps an idea of what Irish Distillers have coming down the line!!! 

  
  

  We are very grateful to the management & staff of Paul Geaney's Pub, Main Street, Dingle, for hosting this tasting for us.

  Dear Members,

  The Irish Whiskey Society is delighted to be joined by the lovely folks from Hinch Distillery for our May end-of-month tasting.

  
  

  Hinch distillery officially opened its doors on 31 March 2021, making them one of the newest distilleries on the island. While young, they came out swinging and have released amazing expressions, with the following to be enjoyed on the night: 

  • 5 Year Old - Double Wood

  • 15 Year Old - Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish - Batch 1

  • Warehouse 3 - Madeira Refill 

  • Warehouse 3 - Oloroso Finish

  We will also be one of the first to taste their brand new malts forged in the stills of County Down, malts that have been patiently maturing in their warehouses and are ready for the spotlight:

  • Hinch Single Malt 

  • Hinch Peated Single Malt

  This hybrid event offers two ways to participate:

  • Join us in person for an intimate tasting experience.
  • Attend virtually from the comfort of your own home.

  Booking opens on Tuesday 13th of May at 7.00pm. There are spaces available for offline and online tastings. Please make sure to choose the right ticket type. Join the waiting list to be notified as we might be able to get more spots for the event.  It is necessary to register and complete payment via Stripe (within 15 minutes) to secure your booking.

  The Heartlands of Irish Whiskey

  14th of June, Tullamore & Kilbeggan (Bus Tour)

  Dear Members,

  The Irish Whiskey Society is delighted to announce our upcoming visit to the Heartlands of Irish Whiskey!

  Members will hop on board the Society's very own Whiskey Bus in Dublin city centre at 09:00 on Saturday June 14th before being whisked off to the heartlands to visit the Kilbeggan and Tullamore D.E.W. distilleries. We will have lunch in between the visits at the historic Old Warehouse Restaurant in Tullamore, the original home of Tullamore D.E.W Whiskey, dating back to 1829.

  
  

  The Society will have the distilleries to ourselves during the visits, so members will be able to savour the sights, sounds and scenery at each distillery, with some free time to visit the gift shops, take photographs and enjoy the experience.

  
  

  The event will include:

  • Coach hire for the day, to take us to each location in comfort

  • A tour and upgraded tasting at the Kilbeggan Distillery

  • A two course lunch at the historic Old Warehouse Restaurant in Tullamore

  • A welcome drink, tour, tasting and warehouse visit at the Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery 

  The IWS Whiskey Bus will return to Dublin at approximately 18:00, so it will be a full and fun day out. There are only 50 tickets for this once-off event.

  Booking opens on Thursday 1st of May at 7.00 p.m. It is necessary to register and complete payment via Stripe (within 15 minutes) to secure your booking.

  To facilitate event organisation and management, a limited number of tickets will be pre-sold in advance to the IWS Events Team. Tickets will be sold to IWS Members first, with tickets for guests and non-members being sold only after an appropriate amount of time to ensure any Member who wants to attend is able to secure their ticket. Ticket sales are on a first-come-first-served basis and attendance is for the registered ticket holder only. Tickets are strictly non-transferable. All cancellations will be reallocated by the IWS to the waiting list in order. Cancellations within 72 hours are non-refundable, if not resold to the waiting list. If participants prefer, they can travel directly to the Kilbeggan Distillery and join the Society there at 10:30. If participants are doing so, please ensure to let the Events Team know as soon as possible. If participants are running late on the morning, please make sure to show respect for their fellow society members and contact the Events Team in good time. However, if participants are too late to arrive to the departure point, the bus may depart without them as the society needs to arrive at the first distillery by 10:30. Refunds will not be offered in this case. The ticket price will cover a 2 course meal at the Old Warehouse restaurant in Tullamore, any charges incurred by members for additional courses, drinks, gratuity etc. will need to be covered by the participants in question. Participants are reminded of the IWS Code of Conduct, encouraged to consume alcohol responsibly during the event, and advised to remain respectful of staff of the locations we will visit, the IWS Events Team, and fellow members. Any inappropriate conduct may result in the participant being excluded from the event or future events Please let us know and we will either refund you or credit your account, unfortunately we won’t be in a position to send the samples out.
